ANNUAL DINNER
2004
THISTLE HOTEL
The Annual Dinner continues to be the highlight of the BADCASS social
year. This year close to 350 people donned their best dresses and tuxedos
to make it down to the Thistle Hotel in Bristol.
Firstly, congratulations to the winners from the evening, especially
to Miss Rhianne Cox of Deloitte who won the Knox prize for coming top
in the country in FR. Inevitably with every winner there has to be losers,
and Jason Parsons was again seen to be supporting the South West casino
industry single handedly after dinner. On the gambling note, thanks to
all who bought tickets for the casino - we raised £650 for the
MS Society. Our guest speaker from the society, Hamish Hall, was delighted
with the amount raised.
Our normal providers of gossip on evenings like this seemed to either
be on quite introspective form, or to have moved to Brisbane on secondment.
However, we certainly spotted certain young members getting to know each
other slightly better on the dance floor after dinner. After plucking
up enough Dutch courage for his speech, "Stand up" Everson most definitely
had his dancing shoes on.
Thanks must go to all at WESCA for their generous sponsorship of the dinner,
and to Ruth and the other committee members for giving up their time to make
the event such a success.
