On Wednesday 1st August 30 members of BADCASS headed down the M5 to Middlemoor Lake to take part in the annual BADCASS watersports event. Sponsored by Robert Half Finance and Accounting, the event provided an opportunity for us to enjoy the summer weather which had finally decided to arrive.
The evening started off with us being unleashed on the jet-skis – everyone started off a bit timidly before gaining confidence and ragging them round the lake at speeds nearing 50mph. There were some spectacular crashes with Dave Washbrook and Alex Garfitt heading ‘over the handlebars’ at full tilt and Sarah Mansfield unceremoniously dumping John Levis off the back on the way round a bend.
It was then on to the donut which provided some of the main highlights of the evening. As the first group headed off we thought they could be in for an easy ride – how wrong we were! Steve, the lake owner, later confessed that this is his favourite part of the job and took great pleasure in providing a rough and tumble ride for all riders. Judging by the number of chiropractor appointments booked on the Thursday morning he did a good job!
A BBQ and bar kept us fed and watered whilst we weren’t on the lake and all involved seemed to enjoy themselves. A big thank you must go to the staff at Middlemoor and especially Robert Half Finance and Accounting for generously sponsoring the event and taking part so enthusiastically.
