Poker Evening - 29th January 2009

The annual Poker tournament 2009 was a huge success with over 30 accountancy students competing for a chance to win one of the top 3 prizes on offer. Around 50 students from big 4 and mid tier firms from across the region turned up, taking the opportunity to win prizes and network with their peers. Around half of the competitors were CAPELLA students doing their best to take home the prizes for the evening and retain the title that an ICAS student won in the previous year.
With over £200 worth of prizes to be won for the top 3 players; competition was fierce and play time stretched over a 3 hour period. Finally the players got whittled down to just 6 playing on the top table with the final standings as below;

1st Place - Matt Johnson - Personal DVD Player

2nd Place - Sarah Garlik - DAB Digital Radio

3rd Place - James Blakeborough - 8GB MP3 player.

The event was partially funded via CAPELLA and BADCASS and huge thanks must go to their support for the evening. The event was the first of its kind to be held between the two parties; and following the large turnout and success of the event, the first of many to come.

The event was organized on behalf of CAPELLA and BADCASS by Lee Evans (Ernst & Young, Bristol - ICAS) and Ross Bradley (Deloitte, Bristol – ICAEW). For further information on CAPELLA in the south-west please contact Lee Evans; levans@uk.ey.com.
