Wednesday 27th January 2010 - Poker Night

in association with CAPELLA

The annual poker evening in Bristol served a treat for the 30 players and many keen onlookers. The tournament was attended by students from a variety of Big 4 and mid tier firms in the Bristol area. Both ICAS and non-ICAS students were present due to the joint event between the two student bodies. In the prior year and ICEAW member won the tournament… but this year the ICAS boys did us proud!
With £200 worth of prizes to be won for the top 3 players; competition was fierce and play time stretched over a 3 hour period. Finally the players got whittled down to just 6 playing on the top table with the final standings as below;

1st place – Ed Phippen (EY Bristol – ICAS)                     Sony 12megapixel Digital Camera
2nd place – Rhian Harries (Grant Thornton – ICAEW)         Sony DAB Digital Radio
3rd place – Simon Gerring (EY Bristol – ICAS)                 Curry’s gift voucher

There was an excellent turn out at the event with around 45 attendees in total, especially as it is a busy time of the year for the majority of us. The event was partially funded via CAPELLA and BADCASS and huge thanks must go to their support for the evening.
