LONDON MARATHON
WRITTEN BY DAVID WASHBROOK

David Washbrook, a first year at KPMG Bristol, completed this years London Marathon in a time of 3h 54mins finishing in position 9613 out of over 35,000! In the process he raised over £1500 for CLIC, a Bristol based charity helping children with cancer and leukaemia.

David embarked upon the challenge to raise money for the charity after reading about Lance Armstrong, who is a famous cyclist who battled with cancer.

He was chasing down the lovely Nel McAndrew clocking 8 minute miles and on for a time of sub 3:30. Then at 21 miles he 'hit the wall' that so many runners do.

'The last 5 miles felt like over 100 and are a complete blur, apart from some much needed encouragement and a Lucozade off Jonny Wilkinson and James Cracknell at the 24 mile mark!'
He hopes to use the London Marathon as a stepping stone towards he first triathlon season and to raise further money for CLIC. He hopes to end the season with a Half Ironman, which involves a 1.5 mile swim, 55 mile bike ride followed by a half marathon.
