BUSINESS FUTURES EVENT

3/8/2015

Business futures is a series of events run by the ICAEW looking at just that, the future of business.

The events focus around topics and issues that shall impact how the world operates in the future. Discussing issues such as natural resources, urbanisation & public spending to name a few.

The ICAEW value the input from younger members and shall sponsor 10 people to attend the event in the form of reimbursement of travel expenses up to the value of £100.

There will be a round table session held on the evening of Monday 3rd August, 8pm at  a venue TBC after the monthly BADCASS committee meeting. This is an opportunity to learn more about Business Futures and decide whether you would like to proceed for sponsorship. The evening shall consist of brainstorming topics we would like to raise ahead of the event in October. Refreshments shall be provided.

Please find attached a poster for the next Business Futures event to be held on Friday 9th October at the Ricoh Stadium Coventry. Professor Brain Cox is the key note speaker and the event is presented by Connie Huq previously of Blue Peter. More information can be found on the ICAEW website by following this link. click here

Please email Stephanie Morgan and Ellie Rowland–Callanan registering your interest for the event. Email addresses noted below.

2015 Annual General Meeting

11/5/2015

On Thursday 14th May, the BADCASS committee will be holding its Annual General Meeting at the Lord Mayor's Mansion House in Clifton Down. The AGM is being jointly held with the ICAEW West of England committee's AGM, which we are more than welcome to attend as well.

The timings for the evening are as follows:
18:00-19:00         Drinks and canapés with the ICAEW West of England committee and members – dining room and conservatory.

19:00-19:30         Amanda Krestovnikoff guest speaker – Amanda is an ambassador for Bristol Green Capital and a presenter of wildlife/travel/diving shows on TV.

19:30-20:00         West of England AGM – drawing room / BADCASS AGM – Guild of the Guardians room, first floor.

20:00-20:30         Further drinks and networking with the ICAEW West of England committee and members – dining room and conservatory.

As always, I have to stress that attending this does not mean you have to be on the committee or participate. It's simply a venue to come along, hear about what we do, maybe put forward some ideas you have and, if it all sounds interesting enough, put yourself forward for a position. But no pressure to!!

We all really hope to see lots of you there, it's a really great thing to be a part of - I speak from personal experience of nearly 3 years!

BADCASS BALL 2015

3/3/2015

The BADCASS ball tickets are now on sale and that means busy season is nearly over (nearly...). The theme is James Bond this year (quite out there and unique we thought!). Guys - this means tuxedos, witty repertoire and charm. Or you can come as Oddjob, Jaws (I've been told of someone who turned up in a shark costume to a James Bond themed party before) or even the very handsome Ernst Blofeld.

BADCASS Cocktail Evening 2014!

Hello from BADCASS! Can't wait for the office Christmas party for your next night out? Or just fancy a bit of a de-stress after a busy period at work? Then read on!

Our next event is an exclusive cocktail evening at one of Bristol's newest cocktail bars, Red Light. The bar is another one of the "speak-easy, hidden in plain sight" places and has a real New York feel to it. You have to get into a telephone box and call to get in! Have a look at their website to get a feel for it but someone from our committee has been and assures us it's a great venue.

The plan for the night is to arrive and be welcomed in for a selection of free cocktails (3 for each guest), the opportunity to hear and learn about cocktail making and also just to relax with peers and friends in a different place.

BADCASS are putting this on for our members free of charge, a really good deal that will be snapped up soon so get your places confirmed with Neil Sinnett and Stephanie Morgan (Vice) ASAP to secure one of 40 places.

Can't wait to see you there!

BADCASS

N.B. Please contact your firm representative for details on how to secure a place for the event. If you're not sure who your rep is, please visit our committee page. If you don't have a firm rep (hopefully not!), then contact us via this link and we'll be in touch as soon as possible.

BADCASS AGM - A new year, a new team. Good luck!

It was a little later in the year than expected but we finally had our AGM. This means that the reigns of BADCASS are being passed on to a new team.

Neil will be staying on, moving from his Treasurer role to take the new President. Myself (Matt), Jenn and Katie will be "growing up" and letting someone else organise events and play with money.

Some of our thoughts on our time with BADCASS are below:

"The three of us have had our hands in this pie for a cumulative 10 years and it has been one hell of a journey. With moments like disciplining members, to playing "golf" with 50 other accountants there are countless memories that will stay with us for a long time. For me I know that when I look back on my experiences, this will be one I never forget."

Matt Quinn
"In the last year BADCASS has added yet more new events to the calendar and hosted an unforgettable ball.

I feel privileged to have been part of the committee and have thoroughly enjoyed my time as Vice-Chair. I’m sure Neil, Steph and the rest of the committee will do a fantastic job over the next 12 months, I know I am looking forward to seeing what they have in store"

Katie Spooner
Almost two years...BADCASS it's been fun. My highlight has been increasing the ball to its highest attendance and having a full calendar of events.

I will never forget the photo-booth pictures from any of the balls - always a highlight! I would like to thank BADCASS for the opportunities I have been given, I know it has made a difference to my career.

Good luck Neil and Steph, I know I am leaving it in safe hands.

From photo-shopping out a members' eyebrows to dressing like a "pirate" it's been an absolute roller coaster and we could never have done it without our members and the rest of the committee.

So from all of us leaving this year, we wish the new committee and its members the best of luck in the future!
